Discovery Health Show & Motivational Speaking Dates

Posted by Erik Chopin on December 16, 2009 under Site News | Comments

Thank you to each and every one of you for the overwhelming support and inspiration since the “Biggest Loser: Where Are They Now?” show aired a few weeks ago.   I have heard from many who have even lost as much as I did and have gained it all back…and even better yet, lost it all again and kept it off.  I have heard from young and old, fit and struggling, and believe that every story I learn has helped me understand this process so much better than before.

My 1-hr documentry premiere will be airing on Discovery Health Channel on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 9:00 pm.  The title of the show is “Confessions of a Reality Star Loser”.

For the many who have asked, yes, I am still doing motivational speaking engagements around the US throughout 2010 even though I am focusing on my weigh-in May 25, 2010.  I  wanted to take this opportunity to let all those interested that I have several dates still available, you can reach me at contact@erikchopin.com.

Keep the emails and comments coming.  They have been an invaluable support to me.

I'm finding your new journey far more inspirational than The Biggest Loser journey - which I also watched. I once lost 100 lbs myself, following Atkins; I actually read the book - lots more fruits and vegetables than people seem to think. I was at a healthy weight for me, and I kept it off easily for several years, until I had to start taking a medication I turn out to be allergic to. Lost the drug, kept the weight, added a little more. Now I'm almost back where I started, too.

Thank you for doing this show. I've felt defeated by a weight gain I couldn't control, followed by a weight gain I could but didn't. After seeing your new show, though, I don't feel so alone.

I have watched every season of the Biggest Loser. I will be honest to say that you are one of the very few winners that I remember. I cried at your finale......for you, for your health, your family and your success. There have been many repeat showings of your finale recently on the Reality Station........and I react the same way every time. You are the most inspirational "Biggest Loser" that I've ever watched. You truly captured my heart! For me, my weight troubles may seem minor compared to others........I have these 25 pounds I put on and take off.....constantly, over and over again. Finding that underlying cause can be difficult to do. I too get depressed and eat those 25 pounds back on in no time. Finding a balance in life is the true journey........and sticking to that "find" is the challenge. When I'm stuggling, I think about your journey, then and now, and find some strength in pursuing my own journey. I was so glad to see you with Bob recently and see that you are just one of the normal ones........don't be ashamed about your weight gain........THAT is the reality of life. You are so not alone in this........I'm sure there are many people who are inspired by you........like I said, I think of you often. I hope that you are doing well and look forward to seeing you on Season 9 finale...........where, I'm sure, I will cry again for you. My best wishes to you Erik on your new journey. Please keep us posted on how you are. If you are ever speaking in Southern NH......would love to hear you speak. Take care......

I'm working on re-losing weight too. I have an inspirational quote pinned to the wall above my desk at work. It says: Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going. Here's to working on getting into the habit again.

Erik, I followed you through your first journey and definitely intend to follow your second one. You truly are an inspiration. I don't consider you a "reality star loser" in any way shape or form. You are human. Many people struggle with weight loss and weight gain, it is a part of life, which is reality. I am struggling to lose 10 pounds which is equal to another person trying to lose 100 pounds. I am getting "back on the horse" which means eating better and going to the gym because I was so moved by your new goal and your motivation to get back to a healthly you. Best of luck to you in 2010!!

    Erik,
The first step to learning is making a mistake. I am so proud of you! Realizing that things can be better and then working towards it is a goal that most never overcome with grace! You are my inspiration. Work it! Mind over matter brother. Peace.

Erik, have you been tested for hypothyroid or cushing's syndrome? You'd be suprised at how many people have metabolic disorders that make them re-gain weight after a major weight loss. I look forward to your documentary. God Bless you & I wish you sucess on your journey.
  • Thanks Tanya for bringing up a very good point. Most people are not routinely tested for thyroid or cusings syndrome. I made sure Erik was since I have hypothyroidism and know first hand how it affects everything not just my weight.
Thanks for your support and for following the journey.
